What The Sensualist is
The Sensualist is one of six travel typologies named at the end of the Soul Compass. It describes someone who travels through the senses rather than through a list of sights.
They can miss the famous building entirely and still come home full.
How you move
You are happiest at a long table with no next appointment. You notice texture, and you notice when a place is trying too hard. You will walk the same market twice because the second time is better.
Pace matters to you more than distance. A day with one good lunch in it beats a day with four monuments, and you would rather admit that than pretend otherwise.
What your journey is built around
Your journey is measured in hours rather than places. Meals are anchors, not gaps between activities, and nothing is scheduled at a time that would force one to be rushed.
Rooms are chosen for light, air and materials. Time goes to the people who actually make things: growers, cooks, weavers, the ones with hands in it. Afternoons are left long on purpose.
A day is not a list of places. It is a sequence of sensations, and each one needs room to land.
